Forspoken’s fast travel is so fast you won’t even notice it, as shown in this clip
The newest production from the creators of Final Fantasy XV makes full use of the PS5’s SSD to offer a smooth experience.
The world of Forspoken expands into the horizon in front of the protagonist like a huge fantasy natural environment, with cities and fortresses to boot. The title is being developed by Luminous Productions, the studio created after Final Fantasy XV’s launch, as a console exclusive for PlayStation 5. And as a new gen only title it makes full use of the powerful hardware not only in a graphical sense, but also in features as important as fast travel… which is faster than ever.
During a streaming event that took place on December 1st, the developers at Square Enix showcased new Forspoken gameplay. One of the most interesting aspects of it all was seeing how fast travel was practically instantaneous. As you can see in the following clip, it takes less than a second from choosing a location to getting back to gameplay, fulfilling their promise of smooth traversal in the game.
What is Forspoken about?
Frey is a young New York woman living a perfectly normal life in the city. What she didn’t expect was to be transported to an alternate dimension where human beings are doomed to disaster. It’s a fantasy medieval world full of monsters and threats. But in this new world, Frey is able to use magic to fight epic battles, while searching for a way home.
Forspoken is launching on January 24 for PS5 and PC. It’s an action title with hints of RPG that has captured the attention of gamers everywhere thanks to its visually impactful combat system and the use of magic parkour, something that we now know is vital for moving through the world of Athia. The game was originally planned for a 2022 release, but it’s been since delayed twice to give it the polish the devs believe is needed.
