Elden Ring opens its colosseums’ gates in this the huge and free PvP update

After months of speculation, rumors, and theories, FromSoftware finally spills the beans on one of the game’s biggest mysteries. The Colosseums in The Lands Between are open for business. Elden Ring just announced a huge free update coming this December 7 that opens the gates of the arenas in order to augment the competitive multiplayer aspect of the title by letting us face off against the rest of the player base in all kinds of new PvP modes.

“Join forces to fight for the Elden Ring, then battle for glory in new PvP modes”, reads the official trailer for the update. It’s description is a call to action from the developers, sure to get the blood of thousands of players flowing: “Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum. The Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles such as duels, free-for-alls and team fights.”

What about expansions for Elden Ring?

Those who aren’t huge fans of PvP don’t need to worry. This update release would only fulfill part of the leaks that have been going on about the game during the past few months, which we now can see may actually tell us the future of the title. Another leak talks about a new area of enormous proportions described as a “Underground Dungeon Ark”, an unseen area of the map with a Legacy dungeon, tons of bosses, 30 new enemy types and a huge final boss, with new weapons and loot to find. Everything points at this being one of many surprises FromSoftware is preparing for 2023.

It’s almost certain this will come sooner rather than later (given the Souls series’ past with DLC), so the question now is whether or not we’ll have our first look during The Game Awards 2022, where the game is one of the big choices for Game of the Year.
