Update:
Wonder Woman 3 has been canceled, according to THR; is Henry Cavill's Superman in jeopardy?

The future of the DC Cinematic Universe is up in the air. James Gunn and Peter Safran have been hired by Warner Bros. Discovery to serve in a role similar to Kevin Feige's at Marvel, namely that of mapping out a 10-year plan for the company's superheroes. According to multiple sources consulted by The Hollywood Reporter, Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 has been canceled. Will the same happen with Henry Cavill and Superman?

According to this information, Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984) sent Warner Bros. her idea for the third film in the saga, but the team led by Gunn and Safran told the filmmaker that her project does not fit with the new roadmap, at least in its current form. In any case, no final decisions have been made yet.

Gal Gadot, the actress who plays Wonder Woman, has posted a tweet thanking fans for their support, although it is unclear whether or not she is aware of what is going on within Warner Bros. Pictures: "A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you."

And what about Superman and the rest of the superheroes?

Henry Cavill recently announced his return as Superman. However, the future of Man of Steel 2 seems uncertain. Sources consulted by The Hollywood Reporter claim that there has been an internal debate about whether to keep the cameos of Superman and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in The Flash since they do not know if they will continue to offer material with this version of the characters.

When Henry Cavill revealed his return, Warner Bros. Pictures was working on the sequel and had already begun meeting with writers. However, those plans were outlined before Gunn and Safran joined the project. It is also unknown whether there will be a sequel to Black Adam or a new installment of Justice League with the current cast, closely tied to the so-called Snyderverse.
