From Software
Elden Ring is the years most completed game… and the most abandoned too
HowLongToBeat has shown us a few curious stats for the year: the most completed and most abandoned games, the highest rated…
During these past few months with Elden Ring something has been left clear: From Software has created a monster. Fabulous scores on Metacritic, sales records broken in the studio, GOTY in The Game Awards… and the year’s most completed game, according to HowLongToBeat. While traditionally known for letting us know how much time it takes to finish a game, as the website’s name says, it turns out you can also get a lot more information from there.
Players want to be the Elden Lord
According to their data, almost 6,000 registered users have completed Elden Ring, setting the game firmly in the first place of the category. Considering this is a From Software game, known for their immense difficulty, it’s a pretty big surprise. The second place is occupied by Stray, a game noticeably shorter and simpler in comparison, with almost 4,000 players having finished that game.
It’s also a bit surprising to see that in third place you can find Pokémon Legends Arceus, but you have to keep in mind that said game did release at the beginning of 2022, so players have had a longer time to play all the way to the credits.
On the other hand, Elden Ring is also the game that has been abandoned by most players, although that control group is considerably smaller. Obviously, it is a difficult decision for players to admit they’ve left a game unfinished publicly, so the number might actually be higher. In this list of 5 abandoned games you can also find Tunic, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Vampire Survivors, and Scorn.
The one list Elden Ring does not lead at the number 1 spot, surprisingly, is the highest rated games, where The Last of Us Part I is the winner. Miyazaki’s masterpiece is in the second spot, followed closely by God of War Ragnarok, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
