Valve
Steam Deck is unstoppable: There’s now over 7000 games verified and fully playable
The Steam Deck is ending 2022 with over 7000 games being officially compatible with the device, a huge push that strengthens Valve's position in the console market.
The release of the Steam Deck at the start of 2022 gave a huge push to gaming on SteamOS (Proton) and on Linux in general. Just as you can see in data gathered by SteamDB, between the verified and playable categories of games for the portable device’s library, the list of compatible games has officially risen to 7129.
GamingOnLinux gathered a few of the most notorious titles that have confirmed their compatibility during this past month. There’s some heavy names like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dark Souls II, and Marvel Snap, which join other recent releases like Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion, High On Life, and Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator.
One important thing to keep in mind is that the official number does not translate into the total amount of games that work on Steam Deck. There’s a lot of titles that work correctly, but that still have not completed Valve’s verification process. To find out which game works on your device you might want to check Protondb, a collaborative database focused around the Operating System that runs on the Deck.
