Silent Hill: The Short Message resurfaces, this time rated in Taiwan for PS5

The age rating agency in Taiwan registered Silent Hill: The Short Message after it appeared on the local agency in South Korea in September.

Update:
Silent Hill: The Short Message resurfaces, this time rated in Taiwan for PS5

One of the big surprises of 2022 is the resurrection of the Silent Hill franchise. Back in October, Konami announced a list of games and projects in other media that will arrive over the next few months related to the franchise. Among them Silent Hill: The Short Message was missing, of which we only know with certainty its existence through the classification agencies in Asia. This time, Taiwan has again registered the game, this time only for PlayStation 5.

We learned of the existence of this title a month before the developer's presentation, through the South Korean classification agency. This pointed to Silent Hill: The Short Message, although it did not specify the platforms at the time. No official information has been released, so it is completely unknown what Konami is preparing with this title.

With the passing of the hours, the Taiwanese filing has yielded more official data, such as its official synopsis which we tell you below: "Anita came to an abandoned apartment to meet her friend Maya, and somehow woke up to find herself trapped in it. She must escape her own fears and the monsters lurking in the corridors, discover the truth behind the events she's trapped in, and try to escape before her own trauma consumes her will to survive." We also know her main artwork, which accompanies the masthead of this story.

Which Silent Hill do the leaked images belong to?

Some users have connected the dots in relation to the first leaks that Konami experienced. In May of this year, it was Dusk Golem, a well-known insider, who shared images of an alleged Silent Hill project in development with the public. The images were quickly taken down "for copyright infringement", suggesting that the material was genuine.

In them, we saw a young woman whose face was formed by post-its in which phrases such as "I hate myself" appeared. Next to her we saw some captures of an indeterminate scenario, a floor full of garbage; in the other, the last one, its walls and floor were formed by the same phrases of the character. Dusk Golem wanted to mention two names: "Anita and Maya" and "SMS Messages". The latter matches the name that appears in the logs. Will the leaked images be the first shots of the aforementioned game? What will be its magnitude? We must wait until 2023 at the earliest.
