Final Fantasy 16 PC rumors denied by the game’s producer, says “buy a PS5”
Producer Naoki Yoshida has seemingly squashed the belief that FF16’s timed exclusivity would lead to a PC version down the line, while jokingly saying to “buy a PS5!”.
When Final Fantasy XVI’s first trailer was revealed in a presentation focused on the PlayStation 5, its mention of the trailer being composed of PC footage wasn’t ignored by fans, even after Square Enix chose to remove said small text from the trailer after the show. Another announcement made later pointed at its console exclusivity lasting for only six months, but now Naoki Yoshida, producer of the title, has said that if the game actually comes out on PC, it won’t be in such a short time.
“Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing. Why is it like a PC version is releasing 6 months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5!” he said jokingly. “Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best so please look forward to it.W
A secret announcement related to Final Fantasy?
Apart from the sixteenth main entry of the series, which is going for a more mature approach to its plot and storytelling and an action-based combat system, more information on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy, has been promised for this coming months. It was Yoshinori Kitase, highest responsible for the brand, who hinted at a big announcement:
“We have a big announcement that we can't say yet. 2023 will be a good year for everyone, and I would like to make FF fans excited.” What will this be about? Until now, no more details have been revealed, but recent NVIDIA leaks may have pointed towards a Final Fantasy IX remake.
Final Fantasy XVI is releasing on June 22, 2023, exclusively for PlayStation 5. It’s probably one of the most anticipated video game releases of 2023, a year full of heavy hitters like Starfield, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
