Serious Vulnerability Discovered In GTA Online For PC: Rockstar Already Investigating The Bug

GTA Online, Rockstar Games' popular multiplayer video game based on GTA V, is the subject of a new security controversy. An exploit has been discovered that could compromise players' private information. This was reported by sites such as PC Gamer after several users on social media, including Tez2, an old acquaintance of the Rockstar Games online community, warned of a serious security flaw that could allow third parties to remotely alter the game statistics of other players, corrupt their accounts, and even block their access to the game and ban them forever.

Rockstar Games is working on a solution

The lesser effects of this exploit include resetting statistics, losing levels and content earned over the years, but the worst would be the theft of not only the game account, but also the player's personal and banking information. "New extreme exploits have appeared allowing cheaters to remotely add/remove/modify your stats and permanently corrupt your account aka ban/delete. Avoid playing without a firewall rule or playing at all!" says user Tez2.

“Warning Update: The exploit is partial remote code execution. Paid mod menus are racing as speak to abuse this to the further extent.This could transform into something much worse to extend beyond a game and affect your PC,” we can read another warning. This bug only affects the PC version of GTA Online, so players of the game on consoles need not worry.

Rockstar Games has already issued a statement saying that they are already working on fixing these types of bugs, which they “aim to resolve in an upcoming planned security-related Title Update”, as well as encouraging any players who notice strange actions on their account to contact Rockstar Support.
