Electronic Arts and KOEI Tecmo have revealed new details about their new hunting game: apart from new content post-launch, it’ll be fully playable offline.

Update:
Wild Hearts will receive free content after launch

One of the biggest releases of February is going a little bit unnoticed, and that’s strange considering it’s coming from Electronic Arts. Wild Hearts, an action RPG that aims to build itself a space in the hunting genre of video games dominated by the Monster Hunter series. The development team at KOEI Tecmo has shared new details about the game that we can only consider as positives, since they’ve gone ahead and guaranteed that the title will receive a significant amount of free content after launch.

“All post launch contents will be free, including new Kemono and more! We don't have any plans to feature [Microtransactions],” said Lewis Harvey, executive producer of the game, during a Q&A session on Reddit. They were sure to make clear the fact that all of the unlockable content of the game will be only obtainable through gameplay. He also stated that after the game releases, they plan to add endgame content with even more powerful Kemono, and that the game will continue to be expanded with additional monsters, all for free.

A torrent of new Wild Hearts details

In a time where the conversation of games requiring a permanent internet connection to be enjoyed even in single player, Wild Heart draws a line on the sand by declaring that any player that wants to play Wild Hearts on their own will be able to do so without any restrictions, not even needing to be connected to the internet at any moment.

Harvey also spoke of the game’s performance in new consoles Both PS5 and Xbox Series X will have a Performance Mode on by default which will allow the game to run at 60fps on 1080p, with the option of choosing Quality Mode, which will reach 4K resolution but limit itself to 30 fps.

Not all news revealed by Harvey were good, however, with the producer confirming that, at least for the moment, Wild Hearts will not have Steam Deck support. Though, he’s confident it’ll be added in the future.

Wild Hearts releases this February 17 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
