Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are getting a huge update this month

Game Freak has finally announced the release of their long awaited patch for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, meant to help fix some of its largest issues

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are getting a huge update this month

After months of silence, it seems like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are finally getting a huge update by the end of the month. Meant to address some of the titles’ largest issues (from quality of life to abysmal performance), Game Freak announced that the patch is coming “by the end of February”.

This upcoming update was revealed in an official post on the Nintendo Support Page, where they also let players note what they require to actually get and install these updates for their consoles. It’s all a little bit basic if you’ve been updating other games already, but it’s always good to double check that you have everything necessary before the download is made available. So what is all the fuzz about with this new patch? Let’s take a look:

Pokémon management made easy, and other upgrades

One of the largest aspects of this incoming update for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is the arrival of several quality of life upgrades to the way in which players are able to manage their Pokémon. This is coming in the form of new menu options inside of the Pokémon Boxes, accessible at computers in the game.

There’ll be plenty of new options for doing stuff like changing held items between Pokémon in storage and Pokémon on your active team, re-ordering moves, and managing Pokémon en masse thanks to an all new “all boxes” selection command. You’ll also see some new icons meant to help you identify your custom battle teams, and other sorts of new details so you can have an easier, quicker time managing your critters instead of spending hours going through each Pokémon you’ve caught.

While it doesn’t seem like much, this are some problems that fans have been raving on about since the game launched, so it’s pretty good to see that they’re actively paying attention to the players.

The rest of the patch will be entirely focused on fixing bugs and glitches, mainly those caused by Tera Raid battles or surrounding the online activity. From bugs in the raids where the HP gauge was not properly being displayed, to a bug that would lock you up and prevent you from doing anything. Everything else in the patch is meant to fix larger issues, from performance to game breaking bugs, as well a refinement of the camera during battles that includes preventing glitchy NPCs from walking straight through a Pokémon battle, funny as it may be.

You can find the complete list of changes to be included with this update in the official Nintendo Support Page. While it’s not a definite fix for all of the game’s problems, it’s a very welcomed one. Let’s only hope that it’s not the last thing they do with the game, for the sake of those fans that are still playing and having fun with this latest Pokémon generation.
