HBO's The Last of Us introduces an unexpected Part 2 character in episode 6

The HBO Max series retells the story of the first installment, although its latest episode added some changes from the original work.

Update:
HBO's The Last of Us introduces an unexpected Part 2 character in episode 6

Week by week, HBO's The Last of Us builds on the story of the original game, adapting its characters and storyline from the video game to the small screen. Though the first season is based on the original title, the team led by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann is making some changes and adjustments, including the appearance of a character from The Last of Us Part 2.

This article contains spoilers for episode six.

Who is the character from The Last of Us Part 2?

Tommy, Joel's brother, lives in the town of Jackson. Its inhabitants have managed to build a relatively safe place, self-sufficient and with the possibility to live a more or less normal life (although the small problem of the infected is still there, threatening). When Tommy and Maria show Ellie the stables, the girl meets Shimmer, a colt that will undoubtedly ring a bell for the video game's fans.

And that Shimmer is the horse Ellie rides in The Last of Us Part 2, a character who accompanies her on much of her journey of vengeance, or at least the first part of it. Already in the realm of speculation, some viewers have thought that the girl spying on Ellie in the dining room might be Dina, the girl he falls in love with in the second installment. However, there is no confirmation yet, so we will have to wait and see if the girl is more than just a curious neighbor.

The Last of Us has been renewed for a second season, which will cover the events of the second game. What about a hypothetical third game? Neil Druckmann has assured that it will be up to them to make it or not. However, Naughty Dog is preparing a multiplayer experience set in the universe of the video game.
