HBO confirms that The Last of Us will have Season 2
After only two episodes, HBO has announced that Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic adaptation will be renewed for a second season.
The success that HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us has had over the past few weeks is undeniable. And while there has been speculation about a sequel, HBO has confirmed that it will be renewing the project for a second season.
The announcement was made through social media, where with a simple message: "The journey continues. The Last Of Us will return for another season on HBO Max" accompanied by a brief animation with the title of the series.
The producers are thankful
This was also accompanied by a press release, in which executive producers Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin thanked the company for its support. “I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” said executive producer and Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann. “The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with Season 2! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog and PlayStation, thank you.”

Just this week, Bella Ramsey stated about the possibility of a second season of The Last of Us. "If people keep watching," it is "I think is pretty likely," commented the actress who plays Ellie in the series. And indeed, people are watching the series, with the first episode being the second biggest premiere in a decade in the channel's metrics.
