Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass? Blizzard speaks about it
The executive producer of the franchise shared his enthusiasm for players’ reactions at playing the upcoming Diablo 4 open beta and clears up the Game Pass question.
Still reeling from Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, the decision on whether or not the transaction will be approved is still up in the air. But a definitive ruling won’t arrive in time for the launch of Diablo IV, one of the most anticipated video games of 2023. The title developed by Blizzard Entertainment will reach all major systems except Nintendo Switch, but will it be released on Xbox Game Pass?
Rod Fergusson, the executive producer of the Diablo brand, has assured on Twitter that at this time they have not discussed the possibility of launching the fourth installment in the Microsoft subscription service: "It's awesome seeing the excitement around the Diablo IV Beta”, he said on Twitter. “We’ve been getting some questions about D4 on Game Pass and I want to let you know we have no plans for that”.
When is the Diablo IV open beta?
Players will be able to try out Diablo IV very soon. Blizzard Entertainment is planning to run an open beta to take place between March 24 and 26. On the other hand, those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or the Ultimate Edition will have early access to the beta, from March 17 to 19.
As explained by the director of the title, Joe Shely, there will be no time limit and the heroes will be able to reach level 25. As for the story, it will cover practically the entire first act.
Diablo IV will be available on June 5 (June 2 if you have early access) on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS5, and PC. The development has not been easy, especially after cases of sexual and labor abuse within Blizzard Entertainment came to light. This led to disciplinary actions such as the dismissal of the original game director, plus other key people.
