Hideki Kamiya has revealed that the team at Platinum Games would like to make Bayonetta Origins a full franchise, although it’s still not set in stone.

Update:
Hideki Kamiya wants a Bayonetta Origins sequel

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza & The Lost Demon caught us all by surprise since its announcement, and it’s because it is a very original proposal for a character from Platinum Games that’s know for her looks and style. Its peculiar artistic section and gameplay has surprised on the market, and that has made Hideki Kamiya consider the possibility of developing a sequel or even making it into a subfranchise by itself. Is the studio thinking about it?

“If I just come out and say it openly, we want to make this title part of a new series, and keep expanding the world,” said the always peculiar creative. “There's a lot of preparation going on, and we're having conversations like, 'There’s plenty of preparation that goes into that, and we are having discussions along the lines of “We want to do this kind of thing right?” with director (Abebe) Tinari. Although we haven’t quite had any of those discussions with Nintendo yet…"

Nintendo is also in favor

But from Nintendo they have something to say... and it seems that they are going in the same direction. "So there’s certainly nothing concrete we can say at this point, but personally at least, I don’t think this is the end,” says Makoto Okazaki, Producer of the game from Nintendo’s side. "For now I think it would be best to listen to the opinions of everyone who played this game and consider where we should go next.”

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza & The Lost Demon sports a fabulous 80 on Metacritic, where both the story and the gameplay have been some of its most flattering sections. In our review, where it took a 7.5, our colleague Alejandro Castillo commented that “the proposal brings together enough quality elements to be able to be played regardless of your knowledge of the saga. It doesn't demand too much as a player: what it does require is coordination, and that's where the game shines is when it puts your learning to the test with the control of both characters with both sticks”.
