Full screen

The Resident Evil 4 remake is much more action-oriented than its predecessors. However, there are a number of things that are good to keep in mind before starting the adventure to at least partially understand what we are up against. Below we leave you with a series of tricks, tips and strategies of Resident Evil 4 Remake:

General Resident Evil 4 Remake Tips and Strategies

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a video game that focuses much more on action than the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. However, some of the key elements of the series are still present, such as inventory management, some puzzles, and understanding which weapon is best suited to deal with each type of enemy.

The progression of the adventure is quite similar to the original, although it has a few surprises in store to avoid being too predictable. Therefore, if you have already played Resident Evil 4, you will know what to expect much better than someone who has not.

Inventory Management in Resident Evil 4 Remake

  • Although both the original and this remake are much more action-oriented games than their predecessors, it is worth remembering that inventory management is still a crucial element. We must always be prudent enough to carry a decent amount of healing items, weapons that fulfill different roles, and enough ammunition for them. This way we will avoid being caught off guard by the game, and overall we will have an easier time if we follow good inventory management habits.
  • The inventory works with a grid system and is limited, although it can be expanded by upgrading your suitcase or purchasing larger suitcases from the merchant.
  • Each item has a different size and will take up more or less space in your inventory.
  • Some items, such as herbs, can be combined to make more room in your inventory and to create new and useful items, such as more powerful medicines.
  • Although it is possible to discard items to make room, it is not recommended. It is a double waste of resources: on the one hand, we lose access to the discarded item(s), and on the other hand, it is silly to throw things away when we can sell them to the vendor for money.
  • Related to the previous point, if you have a surplus of some resource, such as ammunition or even medicine, it might not be a bad idea to sell things to the merchant to gain some space and money.
  • Exploring the scenery is usually rewarded with ammunition, healing items, and treasures.
  • Just like in the original, some treasures are made up of several parts, which together make up the full version of the treasure. This complete version will give us more money when sold than each component separately, so it is not a good idea to sell pieces of treasures just like that, as we can earn a larger amount of money later.
  • We can buy treasure maps from the merchant to mark their specific locations.
  • Items such as herbs, ammunition, or containers that require a key to open will automatically be marked on the map when we first approach them and will remain marked until we pick them up.

Combat and gunfights against enemies in Resident Evil 4 remake

Much of the adventure consists of mass shootings in which we are at an overwhelming numerical disadvantage. Resident Evil 4 Remake is much more of a shooter than its predecessors, which means that not only do we have to have very good aim, but we also have to be smart and anticipate the movements of the enemies.

  • As in previous occasions, the enemies are puzzles with legs. We must always keep in mind what type of enemy we are facing and what is the most efficient way to fight them in order to save ammunition and maybe even medicine. Liquidate a Ganado alone or wait for several of them to crowd together and throw a hand grenade at them? It all depends on the context... and what we have on us.
  • Don't waste bullets if you can't spare them. Resident Evil 4 remake is generous in terms of ammunition compared to its predecessors, but an inefficient management of our arsenal can leave us in very compromising situations.
  • If you reach a difficulty peak in the form of new types of enemies to which you barely do damage, this means that it may be time to upgrade our weapons or buy new ones from the Merchant.

Puzzles, locked chests, and inaccessible locations in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Like the original, Resident Evil 4 Remake features some backtracking. In other words, there are times when we come across an alternate exit or a locked chest for the first time, but we can't open it because we need help or a special key. This is where exploration and returning to previously visited areas come into play.

  • Don't worry if you see edges that are too high for you to climb: they are only accessible when Leon is with Ashley. Return to these areas when you are with her.
  • Similarly, the first time you come across chests of different types, it is likely that you will not be able to open them because you will need their specific key. Just explore the area to find it and return to open the chest or container in question.
