Update:
Destiny 2 will keep Lance Reddick’s performances that haven’t yet been released in the game

The sudden loss of Lance Reddick at 60 years old has shaken the entire video game industry. For nearly a decade he was the voice of Commander Zavala in the Destiny franchise, one of the most beloved and reputable figures within the community. After the recent release of Lightfall, the game’s latest expansion, Bungie has stated that they will keep the actor's performances that have not yet been published.

"For now, we will honor his presence through his performances yet to come in the game, and in the memories that will last us a lifetime, ”explained the studio on its official website. “We are deeply saddened by his passing but so thankful for the time we spent together, and our thoughts are with his friends and loved ones."

Bungie has thanked fans for the “overwhelming” amount of tributes that have been made for the actor since his passing. “from endless heartfelt messages on social media to impromptu gatherings of respect in Zavala’s corner of the Tower, overlooking the Last City. As an actor, musician, gamer, and family man, the passion Lance brought to the things he loved was reflected in the eyes and hearts of all who loved him.”

Commander Zavala is one of the key characters in the entire Destiny 2 story arc, which has build up to its conclusion with The Final Shape, expected to release sometime next year. His role will be relevant in the coming months until its launch. As is evident, many of Reddick's performances in this as-yet-unpublished content have already been completed. It remains to be seen if Bungie makes any more gestures for the man that brought identity to the Vanguard in the Tower.
