How to get more hearts and stamina in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Learn how to increase Link’s maximum hearts and stamina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom allows us to improve Link’s chances to survive by getting more hearts and increasing his stamina just like in Breath of the Wild. On this page of our Tears of the Kingdom guide, we will show you how to improve your maximum health and how to increase your maximum stamina:
How to increase Link’s hearts and stamina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Link’s maximum health and stamina in Tears of the Kingdom is improved like in Breath of the Wild: by completing Shrines and praying at Goddess Statues. Each completed shrine will reward you with a Light of Blessing, and every four will give you a health or stamina upgrade in the Goddess Statues.
These are the two possible upgrade options for Link in the Goddess Statues:
Where can you find Goddess Statues in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
Goddess statues are not very common, but fortunately, we can use fast travel to get to the places where we have some. For now, the easiest ones to access are one in the Lookout Landing Emergency Shelter in Central Hyrule, which is the first area we should go to, and another in the Temple of Time (in the sky), which we will use as part of the tutorial.
Is it better to increase health or stamina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
I’m sure you’ve asked yourself whether it’s better to have more health or stamina in Tears of the Kingdom. The answer is both. However, we will evaluate two possible scenarios regarding the order in which to upgrade Link:
If you are not good at this, it means that you do not know how to dodge or deal with enemies, so we recommend that you improve Link’s health first without neglecting his stamina. A good balance would be one Stamina upgrade for every two Health upgrades.
If you are an experienced player, we can focus on Stamina first... but without neglecting Health. Getting one heart container for every two stamina is a good balance. Keep in mind that the more stamina we have, the easier it is to explore and the more challenges and shrines we will be able to pass, which will allow us to get more Blessing Lights and upgrade Link faster.
What is Link’s maximum health and stamina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
By completing all 152 Shrines, we can increase Link’s health to the maximum, but we won’t be able to increase his health and stamina to the maximum at the same time because there aren’t enough Shrines/Lights of Blessing.
We will have to choose between maxing out Health and maxing out Stamina:
As you know, our The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide helps you with all sorts of aspects of the game, including how to cook, where to find the Hylian Shield, and which are the best horses.
