‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ sends shivers down your spine with its chilling new trailer
This is the new trailer for ‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’, the second installment in the new trilogy of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s ‘28 Days Later’ franchise.

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland continue to whet our appetites with the new trilogy of ‘28 Years Later’. With the tagline ‘The Bone Temple’, the second film stars Ralph Fiennes, who played Dr. Ian Kelson in the previous film, and today a new trailer has been released, full of all kinds of clues and hints about the plot. This feature film, directed by Nia DaCosta, is set to be one of the big releases in cinemas in early 2026.
The new trailer for ‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ is a glimpse into the abyss
“This is a monument to the dead,” spits Dr. Ian Kelson at the beginning of the trailer to Jimmy Crystal, the psychotic leader of the “Jimmys” cult played by Jack O’Connell. Ralph Fiennes’ character, convinced that the rage virus can be treated, takes center stage in this new film, and, according to early reactions to the film, “the central dynamic is essentially a duel between O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes’ bone shriner,a Dr. Ian Kelson, who has a larger role than in the first instalment and delivers a performance that’s “even better” than the previous film.” In fact, there is a scene towards the end that is said to “be talked about for much of 2026.”

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will hit theaters on January 16, 2026. This time around, Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) is directing, and Alex Garland is once again writing the screenplay. Sony Pictures is once again distributing the film.
In addition to Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell, the cast includes Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, Aaron Taylor-Johnson—who returns from 28 Days Later—Emma Laird, Maura Bird, and last but not least, Cillian Murphy. The Irish actor returns as Jim, the protagonist of the original 2002 28 Days Later, and his return will serve to reintroduce the character into the franchise, which will play a major role in the upcoming film.
