A new Valve competitive shooter called Deadlock, which mixes Overwatch and DOTA, has leaked

Valve’s first new IP in over a decade has been revealed through leaks, revealing a multiplayer hero shooter with hints of the MOBA genre.

Valve is usually synonymous with quality, and that is why there are many players who always dream of a new title from them. Now, a renowned insider called Gabe Follower has shown the first details of what will be the company’s next game: Deadlock. A curiosity that could become a phenomenon thanks to a third-person proposal that mixes the best of hero shooters with the MOBA genre, being a kind of fusion between Overwatch and DOTA 2.

Deadlock, formerly known internally as Neon Prime and Citadel, is a third-person competitive multiplayer hero shooter that pits two teams of six players against each other on a map divided into four lanes, as can be seen in one of the images, and around them many points through which to move. The game will allow you to use skills and objects, as well as tower defense mechanics. It’s apparently been inspired by the world of Dota 2, with a setting of fantasy mixed with steampunk..

Valve and the commitment to a new IP

When we talk about Valve we’re not just talking about any company, we’re talking about video game royalty. Founded in 1996 by Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington, the importance and impact that Valve has had on the video game industry is beyond any doubt, and it has done so both through games and with distribution and commitment to the digital format and online connectivity at a time when it was still not entirely well regarded even on PC. We’re talking, of course, about Steam, with decisions highly criticized at the time such as the fact of needing an online connection to play Half-Life 2.

From the classic saga starring Gordon Freeman and with which many of us continue to dream of a third installment, that commitment to a dynamic and interactive narrative that took the First-person shooter genre to a new dimension and has also done so with VR thanks to Alyx. We must not forget Counter-Strike, which seems immortal, as well as Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat, Left 4 Dead, the Portal series, and DOTA 2. Valve’s impact on the video game industry is beyond doubt, and seeing a new IP is great news, although the last one they tried their luck with, Artifact, did not get the best results.
