A Pokémon card saved a woman’s life in a shooting, and now he considers it her guardian angel: “It would have likely struck me while I was asleep”

Owning a Pokémon Trading Card Game collection is a big investment. But for some players, it can be a lifesaver, not in a financial sense, but in a more literal sense.
A few days ago, Reddit user LolaInSlacjs88 shared a story about how one of her Pokémon TCG collections saved her life. In her story, she says that one Sunday she woke up to the sound of explosions coming from her neighbor’s house. “It sounded like something fell down in my closet, so I went to check—and there was a hole in the wall that went into my Tupperware bins full of Pokémon. Turns out my idiot neighbors shot a bullet into my house, and an Incineroar theme deck stopped it,” the user commented.
Along with the story, the user shared pictures of how the cards (and the wall of her house) were perforated by a 9mm bullet. “The actual 9mm bullet was still inside the box. If it hadn’t been there, it would have likely struck me while I was asleep as it was level with my bed,” she added.
For the user, this Incineroar has become her “guardian angel Pokémon,” and she is now grateful to have stacks of cardboard to protect her life. As for her neighbors, the user mentions that the police “came out to do interviews, but of course no one admitted to doing it. But they stopped using their property like a shooting range.”
The Future of the Pokémon TCG
While Journey Together is the current expansion that arrived a few days ago, the TCG is already looking ahead to its next expansion. Called Destined Rivals, Team Rocket is ready to wreak havoc with the franchise’s heroes and villains while taking advantage of the Trainer Duos mechanic. Along with this expansion, Pokémon also announced the arrival of a new line of apparel and even an impressive briefcase for the TCG, though it will only be available in Japan for now.
