Bibarel ex from Shining Revelry is a real threat with legs in Pokémon TCG Pocket, thanks to its healing ability
We take a look at the new Bibarel ex card from the Shining Revelry Miniset in Pokémon TCG Pocket. This Pokémon is small, but it’s a bully, and it’s very useful in decks of all types.

Shining Revelry arrived in Pokémon TCG Pocket last Thursday, March 27, 2025, bringing 111 new cards. Among them are several that affect the metagame, such as the small Bibarel ex, the evolution of Bidoof. This Pokémon, introduced in the Nintendo DS Pearl and Diamond Edition, may not look like much, but it has an unusual ability that allows it to heal itself while dealing heavy damage. This makes it a threat to be reckoned with, comparable to other popular choices such as Venusaur ex.
How do you get the Bibarel ex card in Pokémon TCG Pocket and what is your strategy?
Bibarel ex is a card that can be obtained randomly by opening booster packs of the Shining Revelry miniset. It comes in three versions: standard, super rare, and special art. If we have no luck opening booster packs, we can buy each standard copy for 500 Pack Points, each super rare copy for 1,250 Pack Points, and each special art copy for 1,250 Pack Points. Remember that each opened booster pack gives us 5 Pack Points of the corresponding expansion.

However, since Bibarel ex is a Phase 1 Pokémon, we cannot play it directly, but must “build” its entire line. To do this, we also need at least one Bidoof (Basic) card. This Pokémon card is also available in the Shining Revelry packs, and we can buy each one directly for 35 Pack Points.

Knowing this, the strategy to follow is very simple. Just play a Bidoof and evolve it to Bibarel ex as soon as possible, adding four Energy types of any type. Its only move, Carefree Press, deals 100 damage, which is quite respectable for an ex Pokémon, but its main strength is that this attack also restores 30 Health to Bibarel ex, so it can stay in the Active Spot longer and fight rival Pokémon. This attack has the exact same effect as Venusaur ex’s Giant Bloom, which was a popular choice in Grass-type decks during the first few months of the game.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the 100 points of damage it deals is usually enough to defeat any of the opponent’s Pokémon in two turns, with very few exceptions, such as a Venusaur ex equipped with a Giant Cloak that would have 210 HP. In other words, while it may seem like 100 damage pales in comparison to other more powerful attacks, Bibarel ex still has a lot of offensive potential.
One of its main strengths is its adaptability, as it can be used in almost any type of deck. Since it is a Normal Pokémon, it can use its one move by combining Energy of any type, so it can be adapted to a variety of strategies. Last but not least, Bibarel ex’s 160 Health, in addition to its Healing, makes it a tank within the Pokémon ex panorama, surpassing other theoretically more powerful creatures such as Mewtwo ex or Mew ex in HP.
