Antony Starr bids farewell to Homelander and ‘The Boys’ with an emotional message to fans: “I love this character”

Filming for the final season of The Boys has wrapped, kicking off the countdown to its definitive conclusion. Fans should prepare to bid farewell to one of the most popular series of recent years, as well as one of the best superhero shows ever created. And part of that success is due to Antony Starr’s incredible performance as Homelander, a character who has already made history.
The New Zealand actor has brought a memorable villain to life, and before the final episodes of the series premiere, he wanted to bid farewell to his character with a heartfelt tribute. Starr shared a message on his Instagram account to close this chapter of his life with words full of affection, gratitude, and nostalgia for everyone who made it possible. In his statement, he acknowledges that it is difficult to express what this experience has meant to him: “I love this show. And I love this character. Truly.”

He also emphasized how The Boys went from being a risky project to becoming a television phenomenon that managed to make its way in such a competitive industry. Of course, he thanked everyone who was part of the production, from the studio in charge of filming to the executives at Sony and Amazon who took a chance on a “beautiful, complex, warped, delicious show.” Starr also dedicated a few words to Eric Kripke, creator of The Boys, with whom he spawned this “monster” of a character called Homelander. Finally, Antony Starr addressed the fans: “Without you, we don’t get to do this. And our fans are second to none. Mad love to you...and deepest respect for your taste.”
Now that filming for the fifth and final season of The Boys has wrapped up, all that’s left to do is wait until 2026 to witness what promises to be a spectacular finale.
