Arcane Season 2 won’t be ready before 2024 due to its enormous success
The amazing League of Legends animated adaptation to the small screen by Netflix, Arcane, won’t be getting its second season this year, due to it becoming an unexpected hit.
Arcane was one of Netflix’s greatest hits when it released in 2021, a series that adapted the universe of League of Legends using some incredible animation techniques and styles. After its premiere, Arcane became a phenomenon, both for its plot and for its staging. All this led many fans to wonder when they could enjoy its second season, something that will not finally happen this 2023, as was believed up until now. This was revealed by the CEO of Riot Games, Nicolas Laurent, admitting that the great success of the debut season was completely unexpected and that they did not react in time when planning season 2.

“So, I just watched the third episode of Season 2 before my flight to China. We’re making progress on it. It is not ready yet, and there are two reasons for that. One, you want the quality. We just do not want to rush, and that takes time. So that’s a good reason,” stated Nicolo Laurent when asked by a fan about where Arcane season 2 is.
He continued: “The bad reason is honestly we didn’t know if Season 1 was going to be a success. So, we didn’t start Season 2 until... If I had known, we would have started Season 2 way earlier. But we didn’t know, so we kind of waited a bit. So now we’re kind of paying the price.”
So fans of League of Legends and of Arcane will have to wait, at least, until 2024 to enjoy the new episodes of one of the most celebrated, awarded, and successful animated series in recent times.
