Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red, set in feudal Japan, will arrive before March 2025
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, is also disappointed with the results of Assassin’s Creed Nexus.
The third quarter of the fiscal year is coming to an end, and with it, it’s time to take a look at the results... but also at the future, and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red is on the horizon. The next installment of the most popular Gallic saga will take place in feudal Japan, something that fans have been asking for for years and that we will soon be able to enjoy.
“Moving forward, we’re gearing up for a very promising line-up for fiscal year 2025,″ said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft. “Including the upcoming release of Star Wars Outlaws in 2024, which should be a major milestone in the video game industry, especially given the undeniable appeal of this legendary franchise that will be coming for the first time to the Open World territory, as well as Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, set in the long-awaited feudal Japan universe”
“We look forward to revealing the full extent of the creative capabilities of Ubisoft’s teams, who are working hard to make these games a success that will live up to gamers’ expectations,” concludes the Gaul. Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will be a great RPG game like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla, in fact it is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the creators of AC Odyssey.
Ubisoft not happy with virtual reality
Meanwhile, despite the popularity of the franchise, it seems clear that virtual reality still has some way to go to become a fully established technology that is accepted by the gaming community. “We have been a bit disappointed by what we were able to achieve on VR with Assassin’s Creed,” Guillemot also said in the results summary. “It did OK, and it continues to sell, but we thought it would sell more, so we’re not increasing our investment on VR at the moment,” he concludes about what has been achieved with Assassin’s Creed Nexus.
