Since its announcement, Ubisoft had been silent. We knew that Assassin’s Creed Mirage was planned for 2023, but the release date was still a mystery... at least officially, because leaks are the devil’s work and they had already solved the mess. The French company announced during the PlayStation Showcase that the game will be released on October 12 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
Basim Ibn Ishaq was a member of the Order of Assassins who served as the master of the brotherhood in the time of Eivor - the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Mirage is set years before this story and begins with Basim in his time as a petty thief, fantastic skills to be attracted by the Order. Roshan will discover him and become his mentor in this new phase.
Not a Valhalla expansion
Although Assassin’s Creed Mirage was born as an expansion to Valhalla, Ubisoft confirmed to MeriStation that it didn’t take two weeks for it to become a full-fledged game. “Yes, it was going to be an expansion, but only for a few weeks,” said Sarah Beaulieu, narrative director for the video game. “Once we started working on it, we realized we had the opportunity to do what we wanted to do.”
Developed by the Bordeaux-based studio, the team has opted for a more classic and compact structure: instead of being a role-playing game, it is an adventure focused on assassination, stealth and parkour, the three pillars of the brand.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s post-launch roadmap has been completed after receiving numerous free and paid content. The three major expansions extend the epic of Eivor (Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris), while Odin is the protagonist of Dawn of Ragnarök.
