In the week before the The Game Awards 2023, where it is already one of the nominees to win the GOTY award, Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting a big update. Far from being a mere patch to correct errors, it adds an epilogue that takes place six months after the events that occurred in the base game, and it comes with a lot of new dialogue and voice lines.

The update is now available, in fact, and what we are going to discover is a story set in the camp after Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, and which includes almost 3,600 new lines of dialogue.

“For the writers of Larian, this “final goodbye” has resulted in some of the most complex writing in the game thus far, as it takes advantage of Baldur’s Gate 3′s reactivity across the entire adventure,” they say in an official statement. “a gigantic tree of permutations that leads to an opportunity to reflect on that journey before you say goodbye.”

“Set at camp in High Hall, with a view overlooking the city, this new playable chapter takes place six months after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3′s story, and is accessible to all players by loading the game prior to the final fight.” According to the developers, even if you’ve already finished the game you can jump into your save file and experience this final event, where you’ll meet up with new and old friends to have a final bit of closure to your personal story.

What’s coming to Baldur’s Gate 3?

As we said before, the next Larian Studios event is next week, since The Game Awards gala takes place this thursday, December 7. Obviously they are the big favorites in the Best RPG category, but also aspire to the Game of the Year, a category in which they are competing shoulder to shoulder with titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Precisely, Link’s adventure seemed like the undisputed GOTY until the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, which surprised not because of its quality, which was already expected, but because of its superlative nature.

Meanwhile, next year lovers of the physical format and collecting will have the opportunity to get a deluxe edition packed with items: a physical copy, patches, stickers, a soundtrack, a map... It will arrive in the first months of 2024 and will be priced at $79.99 on all platforms: PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
