Bethesda surprises Starfield fans with a much-requested upgrade and plenty more in its newest patch
Starfield is introducing new graphics options with a May update, alongside other new features, upgrades, and bug fixes.
Todd Howard, director of Starfield and several of Bethesda’s biggest hits, said in an interview with Kinda Funny Games that juicy improvements were coming for his space video game. The title, the company’s first new intellectual property in years, met with a somewhat divisive reception when it launched last September. Despite everything, the studio’s commitment was to continue releasing updates and improvements, in addition to the promised Broken Space expansion, which continues its development. Few expected at this point a patch that would activate 60 FPS on console, but it’s going to happen. Not only that, city maps will also be redesigned, two features that people have been clamoring for.
What’s new in the Starfield update
“We’ve heard from many that you’d like to have more control over the graphic fidelity and performance on Xbox, similar to how PC players can customize their experience. We’re now enabling that on Xbox Series X with a few options that you can use to find the best fit for your playstyle and display,” says the studio on its official website. From what is understood, these options will only be available on the most powerful console, so Xbox Series S users will not enjoy the improvements:
One of the loudest complaints since launch was the maps, so Bethesda has redesigned them so that the player knows where to go at all times without getting lost. On the other hand, they have also implemented new difficulty options through the configuration menu, improvements in inventory management, and bug fixes.
The update is already available on Steam Beta, waiting for the final version to reach the rest of the users. Starfield proposes a space journey full of action and discoveries, which can be enjoyed on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Game Pass.
