Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Nintendo Switch 2 — What’s going on?

Despite Microsoft’s agreement with Nintendo, Black Ops 7 has not been announced for Switch 2... Activision responds.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was the final reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming its release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

However, Nintendo Switch 2 was notably absent from the list of supported platforms, despite Microsoft’s previous commitment to bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles.

Activision’s response: The franchise is still coming to Switch

When asked about the lack of a Switch 2 version, Activision told Eurogamer that the Call of Duty team remains committed to the agreement:

“We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it. We will share details when ready.”

This suggests that Black Ops 7 may still arrive on Switch 2, but no official confirmation has been given yet.

Black Ops 7: A direct sequel set decades after Black Ops 6

Set in 2035, Black Ops 7 takes place 40 years after Black Ops 6, following David Mason as he battles a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear.

The game will feature:

  • A psychological warfare-driven campaign.
  • Advanced futuristic technology.
  • A mind-bending narrative, continuing the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6.

Will Black Ops 7 come to Switch 2?

While Activision has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo Switch, the lack of an official announcement for Black Ops 7 leaves its fate uncertain.

Given that the game is launching on last-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, a Switch 2 version seems plausible, but fans will have to wait for further updates.
