‘Captain America: Brave New World’ star laments the loss of Winter Soldier and Zemo
The next Captain America movie won’t have Sebastian Stan or Daniel Brühl return to play their roles in the MCU after their Disney+ show.
‘The Fantastic Four’ will not be the only big premiere for Marvel Studios in 2025. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will also arrive in movie theaters to continue with the franchise as Sam Wilson -until now Falcon-, picks up the shield after Steve Rogers after the events of ‘Avengers Endgame’ and his own series, ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. And it is precisely the series for Disney+ the one who introduced us to Anthony Mackie as the new Cap, although it seems that his two adventure buddies will not be reprising their roles.
Is this a final goodbye to Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl?
This was confirmed by Anthony Mackie himself in a recent interview with RadioTimes (via Collider), in which the actor shared his disappointment at the absence of Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl in their respective roles of Winter Soldier and Zemo in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. This is how the actor explained it:
“When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit,” the actor commented regarding the roles of his colleagues in the series ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. Of course, in exchange, the film will bet on numerous characters who have not been seen in the MCU for years, in addition to introducing many new ones.
The new Cap film will bring back both Liv Tyler as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader after their roles in the now distant ‘The Incredible Hulk’ of 2008, while Harrison Ford will break into the UCM as Thaddeus Ross replacing William Hurt on the role, with the more than likely appearance of Red Hulk. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ opens in theaters on February 14, 2025.
