Amy Hennig’s Captain America and Black Panther game gets a trailer, a name, and a release window

It’s been over a year since it was first announced, but Amy Hennig’s upcoming marvel game is finally starting to take shape. Titled ‘Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra’, the ambitious action-adventure game brings together Black Panther, Captain America, and two original characters into a Nazi-occupied Paris. And now we have our first trailer for it:

With teases of a supersoldier showdown between two of Marvel Comics’ biggest characters (and mentions of a third supersoldier on the loose), this short trailer is a showing of the game’s engine, Unreal Engine 5.4. However, we still don’t know on what platforms it’ll be available when it is released in 2025. Presumably, it could come to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but no confirmation has been given yet.

With the trailer we also got an official synopsis for ‘Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra’: “In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Skydance New Media and Marvel Games share an original story where an ensemble of four heroes must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. As the game’s narrative unfolds, players will assume the role of four central characters: a young Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris.”

Not the MCU, but extremely cinematic and full of talent

While this new Marvel title is not part of the MCU timeline from the big screen, Hennig’s involvement almost assures that the final product we’ll receive next year is going to be extremely cinematic and epic. And as these kinds of adventures tend to do, the cast behind its characters is full of extreme talent.

The list of talent include Khary Payton as Black Panther/Azzuri and Drew Merlein as Captain America/Steve Rogers, Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, and Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones. Lyne Renée plays Julie, a key ally in the French Resistance, and Joel Johnstone rounds out the cast as Howard Stark.
