Charlie Cox appears to have hinted at the biggest twist in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3

The second season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ premieres next week on Disney+.

Update:

No, you didn’t misread that: Charlie Cox has already talked about the third season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’. Filming has just wrapped, as confirmed by the actor who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and it seems that during part of the interview, he dropped some hints about his character’s future.

“I literally finished shooting at like 7 o’clock last night,” Cox tells the Kimmel. “I literally finished shooting at like 7 o’clock last night. I got a lot of cuts all over me. And I flew out this morning, got to the hotel, and went straight to the sauna to try and relax a little bit. And there’s a guy in there who looks at me and goes, ‘Jesus Christ, man, are you okay?’ [Laughs] And I was like, ‘Oh no, no, no, it’s makeup, it’s fake.’ He was like, ‘You sure?’ Yeah, it was pretty intense,”

The truth is that Cox appeared with a particularly thick beard, which, combined with what he discusses on the show, brings to mind a recent phase of the comic that seems to have inspired the upcoming season.

The second season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ premieres on March 24 on Disney+.

What does Matt Murdock’s beard mean? POSSIBLE SPOILERS

It could mean nothing... or it could mean everything. Matt has sported a beard at various points throughout the comic’s history, but it’s certainly the most prominent in Chip Zdarsky’s recent run. This run already shares several similarities with the ‘Daredevil Born Again’ series, particularly the presence of Agent Cole North, who seems set to play a more significant role in the series’ future than he has so far.

It is at the beginning of this phase that Daredevil accidentally kills a small-time thug while trying to stop the crime he was committing. From that point on, North is obsessed with sending him to prison, as the police officer believes that masked vigilantes must be subject to the same rules as everyone else. Eventually, Matt ends up in prison, with Elektra Natchios temporarily taking on the role of Daredevil in his absence.

North’s appearance in the series’ first season hints at a certain influence on the Canadian writer’s work at this stage. However, Matt’s darker side in this second season could land him behind bars in the third. And Elektra? Well, there’s been plenty of speculation about her return, and the trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ hasn’t exactly helped put those rumors to rest.
