Update:

Crunchyroll has kicked off its annual Ani-May campaign, and as part of it, has announced a sale or new & returning members.

Starting today and through May 21, users can subscribe to the Fan tier for $1.99 per month, while the Mega Fan tier will be available for $2.99 per month during the same period. This discount amounts to a savings of between $8 and $11 per month, respectively, offering ad-free access to Crunchyroll’s anime library. It’s not a bad deal, considering that earlier this year, the streaming service raised prices by $2 across all its plans—the second price hike since its merger with Funimation.

What is the difference between the Fan and Mega Fan tiers?

Both subscription levels provide ad-free access to Crunchyroll’s full streaming catalog, but they differ in how the service can be used. The Fan plan allows streaming on a single device at a time, while Mega Fan expands that limit to four simultaneous streams. This distinction may be relevant for households or users who regularly watch on multiple screens.

The Mega Fan tier also includes access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, a mobile game library tied to the subscription. While not central to the platform’s identity as a streaming service, this feature adds an extra layer of content for users interested in anime-related games.

In the meantime, as part of Ani-May, the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards are fast approaching (you can take a look at the nominees here). After a voting period that spanned nearly the entire month of April, the winners will be announced on May 23 during a live stream on the platform—which, interestingly enough, falls within the discount period offered by Crunchyroll.
