Update:
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

The lights of Night City illuminate the city with their neons, bright colors that shine once again in the heat of the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, the event dedicated to Xbox and Bethesda games. We knew that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the upcoming expansion of the CD Projekt RED title, was going to make an appearance during the show and here it is. Through a new trailer, the studio announced the release date: It will go on sale on September 23 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

In Phantom Liberty, there will be new characters like Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba himself. Keanu Reeves, the star of Cyberpunk 2077, will also dive into the thriller, as he will reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand.

CD Projekt RED is not for sale

In recent weeks there has been speculation about the possibility that PlayStation Studios was studying the option to buy CD Projekt RED. However, the company addressed the rumors and denied them emphatically: “Nothing has changed in our end,” they said. “So, I can repeat what we have been saying throughout the years – CD Projekt is not for sale.We want to remain independent. We have, I believe an excellent strategy. Not easy to execute, for sure, but it’s very exciting to follow our own path. So it’s a pure rumor.”

Although Cyberpunk 2077 was also released on previous generation consoles, the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have also made the decision not to update it on these platforms anymore. As it is, the next patches, as well as Phantom Liberty, will be unique to current generation systems, meaning PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
