After rumors arose about PlayStation buying the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, CD Projekt RED has stated that they plan to remain independent.

Update:
CD Projekt

In recent days, the possible purchase of CD Projekt RED by PlayStation has been a loud rumor in the industry. A regular Destiny leaker was the one who revealed Sony’s alleged intention to acquire the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, in response to a question from shareholders, the company’s CEO, Adam Kiciński, has flatly denied it, while ensuring that it is nothing more than a mere rumor.

“Nothing has changed in our end,” he declared. “So, I can repeat what we have been saying throughout the years – CD Projekt is not for sale.We want to remain independent. We have, I believe an excellent strategy. Not easy to execute, for sure, but it’s very exciting to follow our own path. So it’s a pure rumor “, he confirmed.

Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Will Be Playable At Summer Game Fest

CD Projekt Red already mentioned that there would be news about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in June, but now we know that it’ll be playable during the Summer Game Fest Play Days, an event that will be held from June 8 in Los Angeles. This expansion will be the only one, or at least that’s what the developer stated. It is a new story that will take us to never before seen places in Night City. Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand and Idris Elba will join the cast to play a new character.

The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, Project Orion, is already underway. At the same time, the Polish studio is working on several titles in the Witcher series, including the upcoming trilogy and the remake of the first game. It recently came to light that The Molasses Flood project has suffered important changes in development, and they’ve gone ahead and refocused their efforts.
