DC Studios Announces New Watchmen Movie
Alan Moore’s work will be adapted for animation next year.
During Comic-Con 2023, once again held in San Diego, there were not only long-awaited projects such as the live-action series of One Piece on Netflix, the first preview of Prime Video’s Invincible Season 2, or one of the most anticipated video game releases of 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PS5; there was also room for surprises that we did not even expect.
If there was something that no one could have predicted, it is none other than the recently announced new Watchmen animated movie by DC Studios. A revelation so terse that all we have is an image with the announcement shared on social media, so we have no choice but to speculate on how it will be based on the theories of fans of the comic created by Alan Moore in 1986.
What will the new Watchmen movie be like?
Although DC Studios has not revealed any details about the film beyond confirming that it will be released in 2024, fans of the saga are already considering several possibilities for the adaptation. Some are thinking of Watchmen (2009), Zack Snyder’s live-action film, while others have put the spotlight on the HBO miniseries (2019), a highly acclaimed work among fans. However, the most interesting theory, and perhaps the one that will most excite fans of Alan Moore’s comic book, is to take advantage of animation to tackle a completely faithful adaptation of the original work.
