Dragon Ball

‘Dragon Ball Super' brings Gohan back to the place he should never have left

The 101st chapter of the manga illustrated by Toyotaro presents the new personality of Goku’s son after the events of ‘Super Hero’.

Update:
Dragon Ball Super Gohan Beast

With the publication of the ‘Dragon Ball Super’ manga chapter 101, fans can finally celebrate the return of a Son Gohan that we haven’t seen in a long time, except for the final battle of the ‘Super Hero’ arc and his new beast transformation. Thus, far from being a mere mirage of the true potential of Goku’s eldest son, it seems that Gohan has already managed to master this new level of power, having a greater role compared to the last story arcs. This is clear from his new appearance in what appears to be the epilogue of ‘Super Hero’ as part of the new chapter of the manga.

Gohan has already mastered his beast transformation at will.

The first sketches of the 101st chapter of the manga ‘Dragon Ball Super’ showed us an extra part of the end of ‘Super Hero’ with Carmine as the main character, something that drew some criticism from fans for focusing on such a secondary character. However, with the release of the complete new chapter, new interesting plots have been confirmed, such as the superhero versions of Goten and Trunks, the training fight between Broly and Vegeta or Gohan’s ability to reach his new level of power at will.

Carmine manages to get Gohan so angry that he unleashes his full power and the beast transformation once again, all in one of those vignettes Toyotaro likes to do where Gohan reaches his true potential. The release of all that power is the reason why Goku returns to Earth, as he is so powerful that he can even sense his ki from another universe. This leads to the expected reunion between father and son, which can be seen on another page of the chapter. But why didn’t Goku sense Gohan’s ki during his first beast transformation in front of Cell Max in “Super Hero”? Scriptwriting choices, surely.

It seems that ‘Dragon Ball Super’ has brought back to the fans of Akira Toriyama’s saga the real Gohan, a character who has been in the background for too long and who gave us such good moments in the sagas of Frieza, Cell, or Majin Buu.
