‘Dragon Ball Super’ is celebrating its anniversary and Toyotaro gives us the most powerful versions of Goku and Gohan
It has been ten years since the beginning of the publication of the current manga based on Akira Toriyama’s work and fans are still waiting for its return.
‘Dragon Ball Super’ has been on hiatus since the death of its creator, Akira Toriyama, almost a year and a half ago. It is now ten years since the manga, illustrated by Toyotaro and written and supervised by the late mangaka, was first published. And to celebrate this date, Toyotaro himself has shared one of his best illustrations, in which converge, surely, the two most iconic and popular warriors of the saga: Goku and Gohan. Father and son in their most powerful versions to date: Goku with his Ultra Instinct transformation and Gohan with his Beast transformation.

Although the ‘Dragon Ball Super’ manga has not published new chapters for a year and keeps the series on indefinite hiatus, Toyotaro has made clear his commitment to the series on many occasions, and sharing new illustrations with fans to try to make the wait more bearable. And, on this occasion, we have two of his most iconic warriors in their most powerful forms fighting side by side against a super-powered threat: will it be Black Frieza?
However, this new illustration hides much more than it seems. If we pay attention to its composition, we will discover some very familiar poses for any Dragon Ball fan. It is a recreation of the mythical Kamehameha that father and son executed together against Cell at the climax of the battle against the evil android, with Goku helping Gohan from beyond.
On this occasion, and despite that a similar situation has not been seen in Dragon Ball Super, Toyotaro wanted to pay tribute to both the original saga and the tenth anniversary of his current manga with a visually powerful and emotional art for its meaning. Such is the stir caused by this new illustration that it has finally been confirmed that the mysterious project related to the saga is a new figure that will recreate this special moment, with Goku Ultra Instinct and Gohan Beast as the main protagonists.
