Every Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown review score: is it the best Metroidvania in history?
We’ve gathered most of the review scores for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Ubisoft’s grand return to its classic franchise, to see how it’s faring.
The Prince is back. Fourteen years passed in the blink of an eye since the last entry of the franchise, The Forgotten Sands, but at last we see the return of one of Ubisoft’s most beloved sagas. And what a return! Many doubted it when it was announced, since we we’re moving away from 3D platforming and instead getting a 2D metroidvania more similar to the original 1989 game than the platformers of the PlayStation 2 era, but Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has ended up being an incredible game that doesn’t get bogged down by the genre switch.
The international press is unanimous in its praise of what has turned out to be a great Metroidvania packed with visual and playable ideas. Awesome movement, a fun and concise combat system, memorable bosses, outstanding level design, ingenious and varied powers, speed, and challenge that make it the first GOTY candidate of 2024. Even at the risk of saying this in the second week of January!
