F1 25 introduces My Team 2.0 and revamped Driver Career: How it stacks up against F1 24

We already saw it in action, and there are major changes coming in May!

Update:

The upcoming F1 25, set to launch on May 30, 2025, is bringing major updates to its My Team and Driver Career modes, marking the biggest overhaul since the introduction of My Team in F1 2020. With new management-focused gameplay and enhanced career features, Codemasters and EA Sports aim to deliver a deeper and more immersive Formula 1 experience.

My Team 2.0: A management-focused overhaul

In F1 25, My Team shifts from the owner-driver model to a more authentic team owner role. Unlike F1 24, where players managed a single driver and raced as themselves, My Team 2.0 introduces:

  • Dual-driver management: Players recruit and manage two drivers, balancing their competing concerns and deciding which driver to prioritize during race weekends.
  • Facility management: Engineering, Personnel, and Corporate facilities now play a critical role in team success. For example:
    • Engineering separates research and development, allowing players to focus on specific parts for one or both drivers.
    • Personnel introduces a new driver contract system, enabling negotiations with multiple drivers and influencing team dynamics.
  • Resource point adjustments: Reflecting real-world F1 changes, teams at the top of the Constructors’ Championship earn fewer resource points, while lower-ranked teams receive more to boost their R&D efforts.

These updates create a more strategic and management-oriented experience, giving players the freedom to craft unique team stories.

Driver Career: Enhanced realism and decision-making

The Driver Career mode in F1 25 builds on the foundation of F1 24, offering players a more immersive journey as an F1 driver. Key improvements include:

  • Dynamic rivalries: Players can now form rivalries with other drivers based on on-track incidents and performance, adding a layer of drama to the career mode.
  • Expanded team interactions: Drivers can engage in more detailed conversations with team principals and engineers, influencing their standing within the team.
  • Adaptive AI: AI opponents now adjust their strategies based on player performance, creating a more competitive and realistic racing experience.

Compared to F1 24

While F1 24 focused on refining gameplay mechanics and introducing minor updates to My Team and Driver Career, F1 25 takes a bold step forward with its management-oriented My Team 2.0 and expanded Driver Career features. The shift from owner-driver to team owner in My Team opens up new avenues for decision-making, while the enhanced realism in Driver Career adds depth to the player experience.

With My Team 2.0 and the revamped Driver Career, F1 25 is shaping up to be a game-changer for Formula 1 fans. Whether you’re drawn to the strategic challenges of managing a team or the thrill of competing as a driver, this installment promises to deliver a more immersive and dynamic racing experience.
