Fallout showrunners aim to film Season 3 in 2026 to avoid long gaps
The executive producer says the team wants to avoid multi-year gaps between seasons despite massive production demands.
The wait for the next chapter of the wasteland is almost over, but the creative team behind Amazon’s Fallout adaptation is already looking further down the road. With the second season set to premiere in just over a week, Executive Producer Jonathan Nolan has confirmed that the team hopes to begin filming the third season “next summer.”
In a recent interview with IGN, Nolan expressed a strong desire to keep the show on air with reasonable frequency. Acknowledging that modern television often takes years to prep and film, Nolan stated that this is an “unfortunate trend” he wishes to avoid. “You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope,” Nolan explained, emphasizing that despite the massive production values, the goal is to be back “as soon as we can.” If plans hold, cameras could be rolling on the third season by mid-2026, potentially shortening the wait time for future episodes.
Return to the Mojave and New Vegas
Before looking too far ahead, fans have a massive treat arriving on December 17. The new season picks up immediately after the events of the Season 1 finale, transporting players and viewers alike from the California coast to the iconic, sun-scorched sands of the Mojave and the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.
Unlike the binge-model of the first season, Season 2 will follow a weekly release structure. The eight-episode run begins on December 17 and concludes with the finale on February 4, 2026.
