Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's most addictive mini-game can be expanded, what are the keys to Queen's Blood?
The game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, does not rule out expansions in the future, although he clarifies that nothing has been decided yet.
Square Enix has just released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment of the remake project that continues, expands and reinterprets the story of the original. As has become tradition in the saga, the developers have introduced a card mini-game, Queen’s Blood. In an interview with Red Bull, director Naoki Hamaguchi has not ruled out the possibility of expanding the mini-game, which has become the most addictive in the game, although he pointed out that there is currently no news regarding possible developments in this regard.
“We haven’t decided anything in terms of future development for Queen’s Blood, but so far, the media who played it have provided very positive feedback on it, so we want to consider further expansions as a possibility,” said the director.
What is Queen’s Blood?
Queen’s Blood is a card game where two players compete on a board. The board is divided into three rows and five columns. There are pawns on the squares that indicate the type of card that can be placed. As the opponents place their cards, more pawns are added, and the number of pawns can increase depending on the pattern of the cards. The time will come when you will have to “fight” for the opponent’s position. If the card is more powerful than the opponent’s, it will be possible to take his place and add to the score. Some of the cards also have special abilities that provide special conditions.
The goal is to get a higher score than your opponent, but how does it add up? It depends on the value of the cards in each row: whoever has the most wins that row, and the points are added to the total score: the winner is the one with the highest total score.
Queen’s Blood invites players to collect cards, play with other characters, and complete challenges, sometimes under special conditions. As of today, the mini-game does not include online play with real people, perhaps one of the most anticipated options.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is only available for PS5. Square Enix has yet to fix the Performance Mode, which drastically reduces the visual quality. This is the review from MeriStation USA.
