Square Enix

Final Fantasy XVI and VII Remake finally arrive on Xbox Series X|S: Now the console with the most mainline games in the saga

The legendary RPG franchise from Square Enix completes its expansion onto Microsoft’s platform.

Final Fantasy XVI

The Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025 brought several unexpected reveals, including Super Meat Boy 3D, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Persona 4 Revival, and the shadow drop of Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox Series X|S — available now.

Additionally, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was announced for Xbox, launching in winter 2025. However, there was no mention of Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy.

Xbox is now the home of Final Fantasy

With the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI, Xbox Series X|S has officially become the console with the most mainline Final Fantasy games available:

  • Final Fantasy I–VI (Pixel Remaster Collection)
  • Final Fantasy VII–XII (Remastered editions)
  • Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns (Xbox 360 backward compatible)
  • Final Fantasy XIV (MMORPG, added in 2024)
  • Final Fantasy XV (Available for years)
  • Final Fantasy XVI (Now on Xbox)

The only missing title is Final Fantasy XI, the MMORPG that remains unavailable on Xbox.
