Final Fantasy XVI unleashes its next-gen gameplay in a new State of Play

The most recent State of Play showcased Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix’s next big entry to the legendary RPG series that shows off the power of the PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy XVI is not playing around. The new installment led by Naoki Yoshida is unruly with the amount of gameplay that was revealed in the latest State of Play. In it, we see everything, from the epic scenes that characterize its promotional campaign to moments where the gameplay shines with its own light, especially due to its combat system.

Among the highlights we have seen is the map, which allows you to quickly travel between the discovered locations, from towns to forests and crystallized caves. The fights look spectacular, full of effects and movements that make it look like an action movie. We also see towns where we can make transactions with merchants, upgrade gear, take on sidequests and missions, and more.

“When the development of the game was starting, I had in mind that today the players are very busy with other things, so I wanted them to at least be able to complete the story. I thought that a game with a story you can complete in 20 hours makes sense, but in the end, we added more and more content...”, said Naoki Yoshida. “We have also included a New Game Plus mode with crazy difficulty called “final fantasy mode”. That probably adds even more time.”
