One of the most popular actors in recent times is Giancarlo Esposito, and although he has had a long career in film and television, his great leap to fame came thanks to his role in ‘Breaking Bad’ as Gustavo Fring, receiving awards and nominations as well as great recognition from the public. For a long time, his name has been suggested by fans to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the actor always willing to do so, and now that willingness has become a reality as he confirmed at CCXP Mexico.

During the event, Giancarlo Esposito revealed that he will be appearing in a Marvel project “sooner rather than later” and that both the title and his role are “better than you can imagine”. Which character will he play? This a question to which there is no answer, with Professor X in the equation, but by his “sooner rather than later” line, it could be a much closer project and be Galactus or Doctor Doom in ‘Fantastic Four’, or something that has nothing to do with Marvel Studios and is within Sony’s Spider-Man universe.

Earlier this year, Esposito talked to the Fade to Black podcast about the character he’d like to play within Marvel, Professor Charles Xavier himself, albeit in a different version than the one that inhabits the collective mental image: “You know, I took a cursory look at him in my brain, and immediately I go, ‘it would be great to play Professor X in some other incarnation than just the wheelchair,’ right? Because the physical idea of being in a wheelchair every single day does not appeal to me. I just don’t feel that old and I don’t like to sit that much. But certainly we could figure something out. Maybe. Professor X wasn’t always in the wheelchair, but that is part of his character development.”
