Goodbye to anime fillers: the new strategy of ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ that is creating a trend

The idea of generating unpublished content to artificially lengthen a show often becomes a serious problem when it comes to enjoying it.

Kimetsu no Yaiba

Kimetsu no Yaiba’ is a very trendy anime not only because of its story and the quality of its animation, but also because of the way it adapts the original work of Koyoharu Gotouge. And in terms of fidelity, something that often happens with many anime is that the dreaded filler lengthens the adaptation too much. Fortunately, in ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ this is not the case, to the point that a few others have decided to go for its formula.

Although it may seem very obvious, there is a way to avoid falling into the temptation of including filler episodes to keep the viewer hooked: focus on quality. Yes, that’s easy to say on paper, but doing it is another matter. How has ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ managed to do it? By avoiding the worst possible enemy: haste. That is why the team responsible for the work has decided to take their time and if they come to the conclusion that it is only possible to release one season a year, then so be it.

This is something that those responsible for ‘Black Clover’ or ‘Boruto’, among others, have tried to replicate, hence both have opted for a small unannounced break. In other words, ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ has shown that less is more, as they say.

What is a filler in anime?

Basically, any content that is not a faithful adaptation of the manga is considered filler, so fans come to the conclusion that it is not necessary to watch absolutely every chapter of an anime, as some are not canon. Unpublished content made to artificially lengthen a work and that, instead of improving the experience, often end up resulting in a worse time, because what is undoubtedly relevant is diluted and the overall pace is compromised.
