Google added a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth easter egg to its search engine for the game’s release

It’s the release date for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and even Google is excited about it as they added a fun easter egg to celebrate. Here’s how to see it.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launched today, February 29, 2029, and fans all over the world are celebrating by diving into the massive RPG.But it seems there are also fans in Google, as they just added a fun little easter egg about the game into their search engine.

All you need to do to find it is search the word “chocobo” through Google. While the usual results will appear soon enough, so will a suspicious yellow button at the bottom of the screen, adorned with a familiar silhouette of a giant bird. Press that button and a whole herd of chocobos of varying colors will dash across the screen, shaking everything as they stomp through. You may even find Cloud Strife himself, Buster Sword held high, riding one of the creatures just as in the “Chocobo & Moogle” summon from Remake.

It’s a small, yet cute distraction clearly in response to the release of the Square Enix RPG.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is finally here

Thanks to Square Enix, we here at MeriStation also got to play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ahead of its release. In our review we delved deep into the best parts of the game, but didn’t shy away from calling out some of the biggest issues with the title as well. We stated that “when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is at its best, it shines brighter than many other titles currently on the market. Its production values are unimaginably high, with fantastic graphics and highly detailed models that beautifully render classic characters in a whole new light. Its combat is absolutely thrilling when it takes place in a well-paced dungeon, and the 4-act format to boss encounters is back to keep you on your toes with some of the most involved fights RPGs have ever had.”
