Grand Theft Auto VI narrows its release date, remains for 2025
Despite rumors of a hefty delay, Rockstar Games has just announced that GTA 6 is on its way to release in the latter half of 2025.
Grand Theft Auto VI just got a narrower release window that gets rid of the rumors about a delay to 2026. Take-Two revealed during its recent earnings report that they expect the highly-anticipated open-world crime game to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X|S during the fall of 2025.
“Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI,’ wrote Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in the company’s yearly earnings report. “We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”
The next GTA game is in the final stages of its development
Just a few weeks ago, insider information pointed at a possible delay for GTA 6 all the way to 2026, with it being a delay due to anonymous sources claiming that the development of the game had begun to “fall behind”. However, that all seems to have been clarified now, as Rockstar Games has started pulling developers back into the office to help finish the game and as a measure in order to prevent more leaks.
Of course, this hasn’t gone well with every member of the industry, but the fact remains that it all points to the title being in the final stretch. The new release window also coincides with the studio’s previous big releases, as historically they’ve settled on the third trimester of the year to launch titles like GTA V (September 17, 2013) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (October 26, 2018).
For now, all we can do is continue to guess when more information could be revealed to fans, as we wait for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S during “Fall 2025″.
