Red Dead Redemption on PC: is Rockstar Games finally ready to deliver it?

New clues point at Rockstar Games actually working on a new version of Red Dead Redemption, making PC fans hopeful once again.

Update:
Red Dead Redemption

Until a few months ago, Red Dead Redemption was only playable on Xbox consoles and PS3. Rockstar Games solved that problem with the release of a native port for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but PC users were again left empty-handed. To date, fortune has not smiled on them, although the echoes of the Old West resonate again... Will it happen this time? As discovered by dataminer Tez2, a hidden message in the launcher code points to this possibility, although Rockstar has not made any announcement about it:

“Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC,” reads a message in the code in Rockstar’s own website. This message is present in an updated version of the site, which indicates that it is not outdated material.

The Redemption of one John Marston

Red Dead Redemption is set in the early 20th century when the Old West began to give way to a new era of modernity. The age of gunslingers is about to end, but John Marston has one last mission: confront Bill Williamson, a former member of his gang. The outlaw goes to the fort where he is entrenched and receives a shot that leaves him badly wounded. Fortunately, he is saved thanks to the actions of Bonnie MacFarlane, a farmer who finds him over a pool of blood: she takes him to her ranch and provides him with medical care and medicine, so he has a new opportunity to do things properly.

Red Dead Redemption 2 did come out on PC, although sometime after the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Although the game is backwards compatible with current generation consoles, Rockstar has not released a patch to optimize it natively to these systems.

Rockstar Games is currently working on GTA VI, a title that has already received its first trailer. It will go on sale next year 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
