GTA 5 will no longer have the Rockstar Editor on PS4 and Xbox One

Rockstar Games has made the drastic choice of removing the video editor out of GTA 5 in the previous generation consoles due to a technical limitation.

An era ends for GTA 5 players on PS4 and Xbox One. The Rockstar Editor will no longer be available on either of the consoles starting February 20, 2024. The studio explained that this step is necessary to allow “support ongoing updates to these games on both consoles.” Apparently, everything is due to a technical limitation.

If you have videos saved in the editor, it’s time to get them out of there. Rockstar points out that all the projects you have saved will disappear on the same date mentioned, so you have to hurry: you have a month to make the move to YouTube, the only way to preserve your adventures on video.

The devs have shared the steps you must take to be able to do so, which you will find below. We insist on the need for a YouTube account, which must be linked to your game profile in order to complete the process.

How to save or export Rockstar Editor clips on PS4 and Xbox One

  1. Open the Rockstar Editor
  2. Select Video Gallery
  3. Select the Project you want to Export
  4. Select Upload to YouTube, then yes
  5. If you agree to the Sharing Policy, select Upload
  6. Confirm your video title, then the video description, tagging, etc.

The closure of the Rockstar Editor is the only element that is currently saying goodbye to the last generation version. On the other hand, the tool will remain intact on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is clear that the company is little by little putting all its human resources into its next project: Grand Theft Auto VI.
