HBO already knows how many seasons they want to make of ‘The Last of Us’: “I don’t want to confirm that, but...”
Although they don’t have a definitive plan yet, the platform has outlined the number of seasons they’ll need.
Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, who are responsible for the adaptation of ‘The Last of Us’ for HBO, have already revealed that they will need three or four seasons to develop and complete all the plots of the series. Based on the two Naughty Dog video games, the first season covered the plot of The Last of Us, while the second season will begin to tell some of the events of The Last of Us Part 2. In an interview with Deadline, HBO’s head of film and drama series, Francesca Orsi, has advanced that the intention is to develop four seasons, although the decision is not completely closed.
“We don’t have a complete or final plan, but I think it’s looking like four seasons. I wouldn’t want to confirm that, but it’s looking like this season and then two more seasons after this and we’re done.” According to Orsi, ‘The Last of Us 2′ will feature a “really intriguing” new faction, as their characterization “feels distinct in how they present it.”
How many episodes will ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 have?
HBO has confirmed that the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ will have a total of seven episodes. Among the directors who will participate in these new chapters are Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin themselves, but we can also find Mark Mylod, Peter Hoard, Kate Herron, Nina Lopez-Corrado and Stephen Williams. In this new season, the story moves forward a few years: Ellie and Joel are living in partnership, but the relative peace they enjoy will not last long. Soon, Ellie will embark on a journey of relentless revenge.
